Shoreline Studies

The North East coast of the UK is mage up of many fine towns, villages and beaches. A shoreline that runs from Berwick on Tweed to the Humber estuary. In some secluded places there are beautiful, sometimes untouched areas of rocky beaches, sandy beaches or a mixture of both.

Technically these images can be quite tricky. They are all made using a technique called ‘Focus Stacking’. This involves taking multiple images. Starting from the bottom and working upwards and across the focus point is moved ensuring that, once the images are combined, the whole photo is pin sharp. Subsequent processing in Photoshop adds some depth and texture to the scene.

These are a selection of images that I took during lockdown 2021, starting near Berwick on Tweed and finishing near Scarborough.

All images are available to buy as Giclée* prints in various sizes and are mounted on Premium mount board with bevelled edge aperture.
