Whitby is a seaside town in Yorkshire. On the East Cliff, overlooking the North Sea, the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey was Bram Stoker’s inspiration for “Dracula”. Nearby is the Church of St. Mary, reached by 199 steps. West of town is West Cliff Beach, lined with beach huts. It’s most famous resident was Captain Cook and the town is also highly regarded for its Fish & Chips!

Each year, in Whitby, there are two great opportunities for photographers. These being the Whitby Goth Weekend and the Whitby Steam Punk Weekend. I’ve yet to go to either!

Scarborough is a resort town on England’s North Sea coast. Its 2 bays with sandy beaches are split by a headland bearing the 12th-century Scarborough Castle. The Victorian Central Tramway funicular train links the town centre with South Bay and its harbour. The Rotunda Museum explores local coastal geology. Scarborough SEA LIFE Sanctuary’s marine displays and the Peasholm Park Japanese gardens are behind North Bay.
